I HAVE DONATED MY BLOOD!!
The procedure is quite fast actually, I got checked up by the doctor first.
Next she asked to draw about 4-6ml of blood for research in dengue fever.
Then i didn't take my breakfast in the morning!
She asKed me to DrinK miLo and eat some biscuits!
Next, i went for my blood test!
The nurse she pricked my finger!~ Felt a sharp sting!
Then the next thing u know....
The blood is flowing out!
Then time for my blood donation in the bleeding area.
Actually, i wanted to donate through my left hand
But then, the nurse said " U are a first timer rite? Then we have to test your both hands for the veins." After testing, she told me my right arm is better.
BTW, the testing is not pokin through my arm to test which arm can poke in easily to the veins. She jus took my blood pressure and then asked me to squeeze the ball hard.
She used her fingers to press the area where my veins are easily reached.
then okay..fine with me.. The cute nurse said i must drink lots of water x 3 or 4 times
So she asked me to finish a cup! omg.. my stomach is bloated like hell la..
Then she said thank you for donating blood! x 3 or 4 times.
haha.. Then she gave me painkiller by injecting it into my vein.
It kinda hurts.. But then when i saw the bigger needle, i was like ................
The needle is about two dots big ..
she inserted in. But i didn't feel anything at all..
then the next thing is, i squeezed the ball.. then blood flow out from the tube..
Whooo.. seeing the blood flow is kind of fascinating.
Then after awhile, i started to feel giddy spells..
Seeing alot of bright dots from my eyes, feeling cold and cold sweats streaming down my head.
My ears are like kind of blocked. Then the nurse took the needle out from me.
I managed to catch a glance of the amount of blood i donated
Okay.. not bad, one bag full but not exactly full but still full =)
they let me lay down straight and my legs in the air.
I lay for awhile n i felt better after that.
they gave me a pink bandage with purple hearts! haha
so cute.. then i ate an apple and another nurse gave me a packet to ask me drink WATER!
OMG! haha.. But later she let me off.. i can't finish it at all... Too bloated la!
Then they gave me a goodie bag which consisted of iron pills, a cap, a pen, a simple skin toner, some gel thing, then a post card, a wrist band and a calender.
LAter helped out again at registration counter.
haha.. lots of first timers todaY!!!!
able to tell them how i feel and the donating process is actually okay!
wuahaha... ended my shift at 12 plus..
kinda happy to be doing good deeds by volunteering and donating blood.
and also making alot of friends! =)
